Social Business TV is a Mindset
“A new mindset, where information exists to be shared.”
With consumer-based social networks leading the way, businesses have followed, adapting their mindset, strategies and communications. In fact, there’s a new language emerging in the world of business. When I meet with clients, partners and prospects, I hear the new language all the time:
The new language reflects a new mindset, where information exists to be shared. To be shared effectively, distribution must occur across platforms. And the information must connect emotionally (at some level) in order to have its desired impact.
Social Business TV is a Concept
The concept of Social Business TV stems directly from this mindset of a new way of doing business. The concept is all about television – in other words, the use of video to convey your message and connect with your audience. As an executive communicating the fiscal year’s priorities, what does your audience prefer, a conference call, a narrated slide deck or a live video broadcast (of you) beamed across the globe?
The video medium is like no other (aside from face-to-face, of course). The facial expressions and body language of a presenter can speak far more loudly than words themselves. Of course, we need the “social” in Social Business TV, which means that one-way broadcasts are a thing of the past. With the new mindset, broadcasting is really about multicasting – that is, allowing your audience an equal role in shaping your programs.
For corporations, this means giving your employees a voice in helping shape your organization’s evolution. For brands, this means giving your customers a role in defining future products. Mechanisms for enabling this two-way conversation include video, text chat, message boards, social walls and blogs.
